What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is the act of being guided into the trance state; the trance state, simply put, is a deep state of relaxation, allowing increased suggestibility and being hyperfocused.  We all experience being in trance in our daily lives when waking or just as we go to sleep, when being completely absorbed in a good book or film, or even when driving on 'autopilot'.  It's a natural trance that some may liken to 'daydreaming'.

Hypnotherapy is a widely accepted tool which uses the power of positive suggestion to effect change at an unconscious level, affecting your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.   Where there are problems due to habitual conditioning (habit-forming), stress or unresolved issues, it can be used to reprogram them.

Amongst many other issues, it can benefit:

  • Stress

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Self-confidence

  • Phobias and compulsions

  • Sleep disorders

  • Nail-biting

  • Weight control

  • Performance enhancement

Hypnosis does not leave you 'out of control' and doesn't work if you don't want to be hypnotised!

Is it right for you?

Before deciding to embark on a session or sessions of hypnotherapy, I recommend a complimentary 20- minute call to help you to understand a little more about hypnosis and what you can expect.

What can you expect in a session?

At the first session we will discuss your presenting problem/area of improvement, agree the target outcome for your treatment and how hypnotherapy can help in achieving this. The length of treatment will be discussed (whether one session or several) and how often the sessions should be.

I take a comprehensive 'case study' and history of my client's presenting issue, so that I can put together an effective treatment plan.

You will learn about the process of hypnosis and how it is effective in making changes to the thought-process and behaviours.

Subsequent sessions will be full treatment sessions as well as reviewing progress against the agreed goals

Self Hypnosis

Learning self-hypnosis will allow you to achieve the same relaxed state on your own; once in this relaxed state, you will be able to give yourself the positive suggestions you need.

Where applicable, I teach this to all clients, providing relaxation for their health and wellbeing.
